Nuwara Eliya

Nuwara Eliya is a town of central province in Sri Lanka. Victoria Park

The Queen Victoria Park is arranged in center of the Nuwara Eliya City and It’s one of the must visit destination. This park was named to respect the 60th Jubilee Coronation of Queen Victoria in the year 1897. Initially the recreation center was the research field of Hakgala Botanical Garden. The recreation center wakes up with blossoms around March to May, and August and September. It’s likewise home to a lot of hill-country bird species, including the Kashmir flycatcher, Indian pitta and gray tit.

Horton Plains National Park

Horton Plains was declared a National Park in 1988 and covers 3160 hectares of grasslands. It is rich in biodiversity and many species found here are endemic to the region. Further, it is also a popular tourist destination and Horton Plains are home to a wide variety of mammals, birds, amphibians and reptiles. The most common mammal seen is the sambar deer who skirts through the long grasses and moves in large herds. Giant squirrels, wild boars, rusty-spotted cats and purple-faced langurs are amongst some of the 24 species of mammal found here.

Moon Plains

The main attraction of Moon Plains is the mini Worlds End at the edge giving a 360 Degree view of the surrounding peaks and towns. The plains is home to Elk, wild buffaloes, dear and many types of birds. This area is also visited by leopards. As such, the Moon Plains prove to be an ideal place for a hike or a cycling tour, with beautiful landscapes galore. The view from the Mini World’s Peak at sunrise is especially spectacular; with the golden glow of the sun.

Seetha Amman Kovil

This is a famous Hindu kovil in Nuwara Eliya. Seethe Amman kovi is built on top of the mountain. Color with gold. This place is believed to be the site where Sita was held captive by Asur Samrat Ravana, and where she prayed daily for Rama to come and save her in the Hindu epic, Ramayana.
