Beaches in Trincomalee

Trincomalee, nestled along Sri Lanka’s northeastern coast, is renowned for its captivating beaches that offer a serene escape by the azure waters of the Indian Ocean. Nilaveli

Nilaveli is a stretch of beach which is situated approximately 16 kilometres North of Trincomalle, passing a thriving lagoon on either side and lush coconut palm groves and hordes of cattle, note that the people in the area are predominantly Hindu and consider the cows sacred. Arriving at the hamlet of “Errakkandy”, a sharp right turn will take you down a gravel road to Nilaweli beach, almost a kilometre of in length, white sandy beach with gentle surf.

Across the beach about two kilometres into the ocean you will see the famous pigeon island, named due to rock pigeons roosting on it by the hundreds and crystal clear water around it to snorkel on to the clear depths of a reef. Further up North you will see a cluster of reddish rocks which are referred to as the red rock beach.

Hikkaduwa

HIKKADUWA

Hikkaduwa Beach Sri Lanka is a popular beach resort in the south western coastal belt of Sri Lanka replete with lovely palm fringed bay beaches. Hikkaduwa beach affords ample opportunities for water sports, diving & snorkeling. While Hikkaduwa has earned a reputation as a safe surfing beach, diving enthusiasts that get excited by four shipwrecks at Hikkaduwa are supported by dive shops offering PADI courses and equipment.

Hikkaduwa Bay Beach is of shallow waters encompassed by a reef. It’s a marine sanctuary: a multitude of species of fish and large turtles are found herein. Colorful fish that dart about in the coral formations can be viewed in a glass-bottomed boat too.

Hikkaduwa area conduct volunteering program like teaching English to Kindergarten which is help children improve their English skills and lead fun activities and lessons that’ll engage the kids and make them fall in love with the language.

Mirissa’s beach and nightlife make it a popular tourist destination. It is also a fishing port and one of the island’s main whale and dolphin watching locations.

Mirissa Beach is beautiful. It had enough going on to give it an atmosphere without being overcrowded. Palm trees lined the outskirts, the sand was clean and the water was an incredible combination of blue and green. Beach chairs are available, as well as plenty of sand to lay a towel, with food and cocktails just a few steps away.

Kalpitiya

Kalpitiya located in Puttalam district is developing as a tourist destination. It is known for its natural environment. The livelihood of most people in Kaplpitiya is the fishing industry.After watching the night fishing boats return in the morning, a visit to one of fish markets you can choose to get fresh fish The Dutch fort and St.Peters church in the town itself are interesting examples of Sri Lanka history of colonial past.

WELIGAMA

Pasikudah

Pasikudah, signifying “green-green growth cove” is situated in Eastern seaboard of Sri Lanka among Kalkuda and the Indian Ocean, roughly 35 kilometers from Batticaloa Town. Foreign travel to Pasikudah has recently increased due to growth in investment and development. The turquoise blue waters of the bay attract local and foreign tourist to this wide sandy place under the hot tropical sun to surf, swim or just frolic in the water.

The beach is famous for its shallow seafront framed by natural coral reefs.
